Adopt-A-Street is a partnership between Broward Beautiful, Broward County Government, and participating cities. Volunteer groups agree to adopt one-half of a mile or more of a selected street and remove the litter four times per year for two years. Volunteers are needed to provide organizational help, cleanup supplies, free disposal and Adopt-A-Street signs.

Serving more than 13,000 children each year, our purpose is to inspire and enable young people, ages 7-18, especially those from challenging circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Boys and Girls Club offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities, year round, every day of the year.

Teen volunteers, at least 16 years old, can assist at special public events, and help with bulk mailings or other office work during weekdays or some Saturday mornings. Groups of volunteers are welcome for special projects, mass mailings, fundraisers and other projects.

Volunteers must commit to work one shift a month for a minimum of two months. For the Fort Lauderdale shelter, volunteers can work Monday through Saturday. For the Pompano shelter, volunteers can work Wednesday through Sunday and customize their time to fit their needs.

Opportunities include Adoption Assistants, Greeters and Escorts, and Lost and Found Associates that help to reunite lost pets with their owners; and at the Fort Lauderdale shelter only - Veterinary Assistants.

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing infant deaths by providing resources and education to pregnant women, parents and their families. We are launching a new program, Helping Hands for Healthy Babies, aimed at raising awareness for our organization and helping us raise funds to continue to support families in our County. There are many easy ways that students can be involved and earn community service hours: A drive for baby clothes, blankets, toys, books, maternity clothes, gift cards to Publix or other major retailers like Wal-Mart, with event support, by helping in securing auction items for our 2010 Mothers Day Luncheon or by selling cupcakes cutouts.
