Join the fun at the Museum of Art / Fort Lauderdale -- become a volunteer! Volunteers support the Museum staff in a wide variety of functions: greeting visitors, working at the admissions counter, assisting at lectures and special events, and helping out at our Creative Summer Art Camp. The Museum also has opportunities for docents. Scheduling is flexible to fit your needs, and training is provided to ensure that you're comfortable in your volunteer position. The Museum has many unusual new exhibitions on its calendar, which means that volunteering will give you the inside track to experiencing firsthand the fun and excitement of working behind the scenes at the Museum of Art / Fort Lauderdale. This organization has two large Family Fun Days in November and December. Winterfest Family Fun Day is November 28, 2010. Winterfest Black Tie Ball is Saturday December 4, 2010. Winterfest Boat Parade is Saturday, December 11, 2010. In addition, we have a variety of fun events that would be appropriate for student volunteers in addition to those listed above.

Individuals age 16 and older are invited to volunteer on our build sites with a signed waiver from a parent or legal guardian. Volunteers are not required to have any building skills. Projects may include any aspect of housing construction (including but not limited to) framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, landscaping, loading and unloading materails, and cleaning up. We are also always looking for office volunteers to greet visitors, file, assist with data entry and other miscellaneous jobs.

Breakthrough’s innovative Students Teaching Students model partners middle-school students with college and high school students who serve as teachers, role models and mentors, providing real-life examples that it’s ‘cool to be smart’. Teaching with Breakthrough is a volunteer experience, but living expenses stipends are provided, along with housing and AmeriCorps Education Awards at select locations.
